Fundraiser set for Hayes

RANGELY — Each year a select few young individuals are nominated to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Melanie Hayes is one of those individuals.
She was nominated by her teacher, Joann Allred to participate in the Junior National Young Leader’s Conference in Washington, D.C., this summer.
Hayes is a fifth-grade student at Parkview Elementary School and she was chosen based on her academic achievement and leadership qualities.
By attending this conference, she will be able to enhance her leadership skills by meeting with several representatives, including senators and members of the House of Representatives. She will be able to visit many museums and monuments, including the Lincoln, Vietnam Veterans and Korean War Veterans memorials.
The tuition for this program costs $1,900. In addition, she will need funds for roundtrip airfare to Washington, D.C. The deadline for tuition payment is April 11.
There will be a fundraiser bake sale at Rangely District Hospital on Friday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations are also accepted and you may contact her mother, Marla Mosby, at (970) 620-3261. For more information about this program, please call (703) 584-9533.
The Hayes are asking for the community to help make it possible for her to attend such a wonderful opportunity and to represent Parkview Elementary, the town of Rangely and the state of Colorado.
