MEEKER | Cowboy softball came to a close earlier than they had hoped. Thursday the girls traveled to Palisade to take on the class 4A Bulldogs. In a tight match, the Cowboys narrowly missed the victory. The final score was 16-15. This was the first of two losses during homecoming week.
Rifle traveled Friday to Meeker for what ultimately became the final game of the season. The Bears, also a class 4A team, are ranked 11th with a record of 18-5. This was the second match between the two teams and second Rifle win. The Bears pulled ahead 12-0 by the top of the third and the game was called in the fourth due to the point spread.
The Cowboys wrapped up the season 3-20 overall and 3-10 in the league.
