Ace Trucking capped off an undefeated coed softball season with a team title in the season-ending tournament Tuesday night at Paintbrush Park. Ace Trucking entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and defeated No. 2 seeded New Creation Church in the championship. Familiar teams playing for co-ed softball championship

The 2014 Coed Softball League tournament has started and just like the season, any team can win. Rangely’s Clark Edwards, playing for Prater’s Plumbing (the No. 3 seed) get Ace Hardware’s Shiloh May out at first in a semifinal game Monday. Ace, the defending champs, lost to Prater’s and dropped into the consolation bracket and Prater’s advanced in the championship bracket of the double elimination tournament.

RBC I The regular season is over, the tournament has started and the championship game was played last night between familiar foes, the defending champions, Ace Trucking of Meeker and last year’s runners-up from Rangely, Prater’s Plumbing and Heating.

Brown wins the Crown

Ace Trucking entered the 2013 Coed League tournament undefeated and the No. 1 seed but lost in the semifinals forcing them to come back and defeat the defending champs, Rangely True Value Hardware, twice in a row to win the title. RBC I All games in the double-elimination bracket for the 2013 Coed Softball League tournament were played out, just as they were last year. This year, however, a different champion was crowned.

Rangely True Value advances to championship game RBC | Sometimes in a tournament, the best match-ups to watch are in the semifinals because both teams try their hardest, with the winner advancing to the championship and the loser to the consolation bracket.

The 2013 Coed Softball season, sponsored by the ERBM Recreation and Parks District, started Monday with seven teams registered, including the defending champions, Rangely True Value Hardware, and six teams from Meeker.

Rangely Merchants enter tourney undefeated

bobby gutierrez The Rangely Merchants entered the second annual coed softball league tournament as the No. 1 seed and was the only team to end the regular season with perfect 10-0 record. The Rangely Merchants defeated the two time defending champions, Ace Trucking in final game of the regular season, last Thursday. Playing for the Rangely Merchants and pictured (front are) Darcy Flores, Marty Estes, Blayze Gaylord, Brielle Harvey and Torie Slagle, (back) Andy Shaffer, Billey Estes, Cy Gaylord, Kanden Brady, Adam Dahl and Kacey Denny. On the team but not pictured are Paul and Jessica Fortunato, Tim Webber and Victoria Phelan.

RBC I The highly anticipated softball game, twice postponed, between Rio Blanco County’s two undefeated teams never came to fruition but one team did entered the season-ending tournament undefeated.

Co-ed softball season underway

bobby gutierrez Softball games are played every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on the Paintbrush Park ball fields, starting at 6 p.m. The league has 11 teams, including one from Rangely, pictured shaking hands after beating a Meeker team (one Rangely member was overheard saying how much fun beating Meeker teams was).

MEEKER I The 2011 coed softball season kicked off last week and the fields are full. Games will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights with six games most nights.
