Letter to the Editor: Thanks to ERBM

Dear Editor: The Meeker High School Student Council, as well as sponsor Klark Kindler and volunteers Alicia Watt and Georgann Amack, would like to to give out a big thank you to the ERBM Recreation Center for hosting and paying for the fun “After Prom Party,” early Sunday morning after the prom.

Snowshoe, cross-country fun Saturday

MEEKER | Have you been to the Philip and Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park in the snow? If not, Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., is your chance to enjoy snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on this beginner and intermediate trail.

Winter fun…

The overall winner of the race event at Paintbrush Park on Saturday was Xavier Buisker, left, who is assisted in holding his winning trophy by his father, Adam. The entire Buisker family participated, and Xavier’s sister, Lilly, won a ribbon as well. As soon as the races were over, free hot dogs and hamburgers were served to the participants by Bobby Gutierrez of Wendll’s/Cuppa Joe.

Meeker rec center sets events Friday, Saturday

MEEKER I The Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District will continue its Winter Entertainment Series on Friday and Saturday with events Friday on the downtown Meeker courthouse lawn and on Saturday with its Winter Blast at Paintbrush Park, Sanderson Hills Park and Phillip and Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park. All events are free.

Halloween festivities in Meeker…


Royalty was in attendance Friday afternoon at the ERBM Rec Center-sponsored Halloween celebration in downtown Meeker, designed to offer the town’s children a chance to trick or treat in a safe environment. Royalty, animals, superheroes and monsters were out in numbers as several events entertained those of all ages from 3 to 5 p.m.

Bank’s fall festival and hospital race part of the fun on Saturday

Part of the fun at the 11th annual Mountain Valley Bank Fall Festival will include the pies, salsas and jellies/jams auctioned off to the highest bidders. Events Saturday in downtown Meeker begin with a run at 9 a.m. and the Fall Festival beginning at 11 a.m. All  ages are invited to drop in and take part in the fun, which will last until 2 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by White River Electric Association and the ERBM Recreation and Park District. MEEKER I Downtown Meeker will be abuzz from early morning to mid afternoon on Saturday with the 11th annual Mountain Valley Bank Fall Festival.

Meeker Night Out…


The Meeker Police Department drew roughly 150 people to Paintbrush Park on Aug. 5 for Meeker Night Out, which included a barbecue and a movie in honor of National Night Out, designed to bring families together for an evening and to cut down on crime activities for the night.

Friday night music…


The band Finnders and Youngberg of Fort Collins filled the air downtown with high-quality bluegrass music during their concert on the county courthouse lawn. Several hundred people along with several of the OHV riders from out of town took in the music.

Free showing of “LEGO” movie on Friday

MEEKER I A free outdoor showing of “LEGO: The Movie” will take place Friday night in Meeker, sponsored by the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District.

ERBM: Appreciation Day set for Saturday

MEEKER I Nearly a full day of activities sponsored by the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Parks District (ERBM) is on slate Saturday in Meeker on the courthouse lawn, complete with a concert at noon.
