Wangnild shoot raised $20,000 for children
DENVER I The Colorado Wildlife Employee Protective Association honored the memory of fallen Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s district wildlife manager Jon Wangnild of Meeker by hosting hundreds of people, including 140 competitors, at the Jon Wangnild Memorial Sporting Clays Shoot on June 29 in Brighton.

August Piceance Basin tour open to public

Obituary: Lester “Butch” Jones
Family visitation for Lester L. “Butch” Jones, of Ardmore, Okla., was held Thursday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home in Ardmore. Interment took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Rangely Cemetery in Rangely, Colo.

MEEKER I Deena Norell, 18, of Meeker, is featured in the July issue of Spin to Win Rodeo magazine in a featured article about breakaway roping titled “Whiz Kids.“ In addition, she will be competing in the National High School Finals Rodeo this week.

The band Finnders and Youngberg of Fort Collins filled the air downtown with high-quality bluegrass music during their concert on the county courthouse lawn. Several hundred people along with several of the OHV riders from out of town took in the music.
