Greetings! I’m jumping in to fill Caitlin’s award-winning shoes as newsletter creator. There will be a learning curve (and probably lots of ’80s pop culture references… hey, I’m THAT old) but I’m looking forward to learning some new and creative ways to communicate with our readers. Here we go… on with the news!

The next solar eclipse — a full one across a swath of the U.S., but only a partial eclipse for us — will occur on Monday at 11:26 a.m. All the usual warnings about not looking directly at the sun still apply for a partial eclipse. If you forgot to get eclipse-safe glasses, here’s a simple DIY to make your own viewing contraption: Live Science. If it’s cloudy, you can watch the event live on Space.com’s YouTube channel. (Did you catch that 80’s reference in the headline?)

Colorado Arrow Busters competed at state indoor tournament

Rangely track competed in Cedaredge.

Meeker track’s home meet was canceled due to adverse weather and the team went to Grand Junction to compete instead.

– The lady Cowboys’ golf team went to Delta to play.



In other news …

– If you haven’t been the victim of a phone or email or online scam or fraud, you know someone who has. Plan to attend the free fraud/scam prevention seminar (above) hosted by the Meeker Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation on Thursday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at the Fairfield Center.

Safehouse, Inc. in Meeker was established 40 years ago this year. Find ways to help them continue their work through donations or volunteering, and what to do if you need victim assistance.

Canine complaints are on the rise… but people aren’t always going through the right procedures to get issues resolved. (Hint: the FB message board isn’t going to fix your problems).
