Barone Middle School girls basketball teams compete in Oak Creek

MEEKER | Last Saturday, the Barone Middle School girls basketball teams traveled to Oak Creek for a pair of games.

In the first matchup, both the eighth grade A and B teams combined to face East Grand Middle School. Despite a strong effort, the Cowboys came up short, losing by a single point, 21-20.

Cienna Rogers led the Cowboys with six points, followed by Raegan Clatterbaugh and Haigen Harrison with four points each. Tinlie Strate and Kinnley Smith also contributed two points apiece.

The team bounced back in their second game against West Grand Middle School, dominating with a 43-12 victory. Clatterbaugh led the scoring with 13 points, followed by Harrison with 11 and Rogers with eight. Jordyn Garcia added four points, while Hattie Brennan, Midy Carmargo, and Tacey Toon each contributed two. Strate chipped in with a free throw.

The seventh grade team also found success, starting their day with a 41-23 win over West Grand Middle School. Graysie Coryell led the scoring with 22 points, followed by Cora Lewis with 10 points. Sophia (last name not provided) scored five points, and Harper Ducey added four.

In their second game, the seventh grade team defeated East Grand Middle School, 34-14. Coryell once again led the team in scoring  with 24 points, while Ducey scored six. Lewis and Sophia each added two points.

This weekend, both teams will hit the road again for their final games of the season at the East Grand District Tournament. Good luck to the Cowboys as they close out the 2024-25 basketball season. As always go Cowboys!
