4-H Open Enrollment underway for a new year

PRESS RELEASE

RBC |  October is here, and with it comes one of our favorite times of year — National 4-H Week (Oct. 5–11), the beginning of a brand-new 4-H year, and the chance for new families to get involved! In Rio Blanco County, 4-H is about more than projects and meetings — it’s about friends, fun, and growing together as a community. If you’ve ever been curious about 4-H, now’s the perfect time to check it out.

What is 4-H?

At its heart, 4-H is about giving kids a chance to explore their interests, learn new skills, and build confidence in a welcoming environment. It’s a place where youth can raise an animal, try out cooking, practice public speaking, or build a robot — all while making friends and learning life skills along the way. Caring volunteers help guide the experience, but the kids lead the way by discovering what excites them most.

Who can join?

• Ages 5–7: Kids can join as Cloverbuds and enjoy fun, hands-on activities at monthly gatherings designed just for younger members.

• Ages 8–18 (by December 31, 2025): Youth can choose from a wide variety of projects — including robotics, livestock, arts, gardening, shooting sports, cooking, leadership, and more.

• Ages 18+: Calling all artists, scientists, bakers, and gardeners! Put your skills to use and help teach the next generation of leaders! Whether you have an hour or a season, we have a role for you!

No matter your age or interest, there’s a place for you in 4-H!

What’s in it for YOU?

• Explore hands-on projects (robotics, animals, arts, cooking, gardening, leadership, public speaking, and more)

• Compete or present at county and state fairs and showcase your work

• Take on leadership roles in your club and community

• Connect with mentors, volunteers, and peers who share your interests

• Build important life skills — confidence, responsibility, communication, teamwork

• Try new challenges, make new friends, and create lasting memories
