Due to windy conditions and a limited water supply, the caller was unable to safely extinguish the fire. The Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. and BLM Fire personnel responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire. Due to increasing fire danger and dry conditions, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions will take effect beginning Friday, June 19. The restrictions are being implemented to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and to protect lives, property and natural resources during a period of elevated fire danger. This ban also prohibits the use of exploding targets or illegal fireworks. Colorado law prohibits fireworks that explode or leave the ground including firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, mortars and similar aerial devices.
