MCWC hosts tournament
MEEKER I The Meeker Community Wrestling Club’s youth team will host the Casey Turner Memorial Tournament on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. More than 60 wrestlers are out for the team this season; more than 35 wrestled in Rifle and most are expected to wrestle in Meeker on Saturday.

MEEKER I The Meeker High School girls’ track team dominated the Panther Invitational track Meeker in Rangely with 197.5 points and the Meeker boys’ team finished second behind the host team.

Relay teams move into top 5
MEEKER I The Cowboys track team entered two meets last week, competing at Coal Ridge High School on Friday and in Glenwood Springs on Saturday. Meeker will run, jump and throw in Rangely on Saturday.
MCWC youth wrestlers place at Hayden Tourney
MEEKER I The Meeker Community Wrestling Club youth team entered 44 wrestlers in the Hayden Tournament and 25 placed in the top four, including eight champions.
Young Panthers still learning; good performances
RANGELY I Thirty-seven Rangely youth wrestlers competed in Hayden on Saturday and almost half placed in the top three. But coach Jeff LeBleu was disappointed with how some of them reacted after losing.
Hughes, Shelton win events in Frank Woodburn meet
MEEKER I “We had a great day in Grand Junction,” Meeker track coach John Strate said of his team’s performance in the competitive Frank Woodburn Invitational track meet held in Stocker Stadium, which featured 18 teams, most 3A, 4A and 5A teams.
