Barone Middle School eighth grade volleyball hosted the Rangely Panthers in their first home matches this last Friday. The Cowboys B team, who dominated the court, won 25-17 in their first set and 25-15 in the second set. The girls made their serves count and worked together as a team to secure the win. Coach Jordan Brown commented, “This year we have a fun, hard-working group of girls, who have been enjoyable to coach and it’s exciting to see all the improvements they’ve made in such a short period of time.”
Barone Middle School A teams girls entered the court with strong serves and hits, dominating the first set with a win of 25-13. Their second set was a nail-biting game, as both the Cowboys and the Panthers fought hard to keep control of the match. The Panthers took the advantage, winning the second set in a close 28-26 match. Meeker seemed to lose a little steam as they launched into their third set with the Panthers losing 15-9 giving the overall win for the day to the Panthers. Barone Middle School eighth grade girls will play again this Thursday, Sept. 8 against the Rifle Bears. Be sure to come cheer them on in the Meeker Elementary Gym at 5 p.m.
