Districts continue to cut funding

RBC I School districts face another year of drastic cuts as the negative factor increases from -12.94 percent in 2011-12 to -16.1 percent for 2012-13. Options to keep cuts away from the classroom are unrealistic. 

DI teams compete at state

MEEKER I The Meeker Destination Imagination teams competed in the state contest this weekend in Denver. All participants did a great job, and certainly learned a great deal from the experience.

Meeker citizen Tom George was recognized by Meeker chief of police Bob Hervey of the police department and Meeker’s Board of Trustees including Mayor Mandi Ethridge for his actions to help locate and apprehend the alleged suspect charged in the robbery of Mountain Valley Bank.

Hairspray!

MEEKER I With plenty of 1960s-style dance music and “downtown” rhythm and blues, the Meeker   High School Drama Club and International Thespian Society Troupe 1284 rendition of the popular Broadway musical “Hairspray” promises to provide great entertainment this weekend.

Well site approved on Sulphur Creek

MEEKER I Matrix Oil Company is working with the town and county to obtain approval to drill a well on Sulphur Creek. The drilling rig will take two weeks to be installed, and completion is expected at the end of May.

MVB bank robber gives up

MEEKER I “He looked like a regular customer,” Mountain Valley Bank president Tawny Halandras said in reference to Jock Waylon Thacker, who was arrested April 12 and is being charged with robbery and theft of the local bank.
