‘Annie’ auditions Tuesday at Meeker Rec
MEEKER I Auditions for “Annie Junior” will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Meeker Recreation Center for first- through ninth-graders. Volunteers are needed to help backstage with hair and makeup, etc.
Ernie Garcia honored by American Legion
MEEKER I Ernie Garcia, a decorated veteran of World War II, was awarded a continuous member certificate for being a member of the American Legion for 60 years.

Putting things by was the wonderful phrase used long ago for preserving the bounty of the garden. Our short growing season made it all the more important that everyone make an effort to can their own fruits and vegetables for the long winter ahead.

A huge thank-you to the Meeker Recreation Center for keeping the dream alive with this year’s Bark In the Park. It was wonderful to see everyone having such a great time socializing and meeting new friends. Thank you for opening the pool up, too, that was priceless.

All-church picnic set for Sunday, Aug. 22
MEEKER I The annual all-church picnic will be Sunday, Aug. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the City Park pavilion. Everyone is welcome. Hamburgers and hot dogs with the fixin’s, drinks and tableware will be provided. Bring a covered dish, salad, dessert or other food item to share.
