MEEKER I At a meeting held Nov. 21, 1883, in Meeker, a unanimous vote was cast by ballot to reorganize White River Precinct No. 3, which included the town of Meeker and at that time was part of Garfield County, with Glenwood Springs as county seat.

Lifelong Meeker resident Frances E. Woolley, 80, died Oct. 19, 2009, at Pioneers Medical Center. Frances Estel Woolley was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Meeker, the daughter of Raymond and Estel (Aicher) Woolley. She attended Meeker schools and was graduated from Rio Blanco County High School.
