On Jan. 5, 2011, I went to a local station and a 10 cent increase! Where do they justify this? When the price per barrel goes down, we are lucky to see a penny decrease a week but they all sure do spike the price when the oil goes up.[Read More…]

Up and down el Rio Blanco: Building a winning team
To me, sports are a lot like life. Although one doesn’t always win, it’s still a lot of fun to compete and be part of a team, something bigger than oneself. It was a two-sport day for me last Saturday as I traveled to Rangely in the morning to take[Read More…]

Letter: Government vs. education

Please don’t immediately assume that I am against the best education for our young people, since the opposite is[Read More…]
Letter: Points to ponder

I started to drive to Rangely last Friday, 40-45 mph on slick, bumpy, snow-packed roads, the sky was clear and my phone read 7 below zero. As I drove through Powell Park, a semi was flashing its lights and the driver was giving me the slow down wave.
Let’s add civility, civic skills to our goals this year?
RBC I This is a season of giving, good cheer and forbearance. Too bad that, as the political season begins in earnest with the turn of the year, all those fine sentiments will become just a memory.
Letter: Proud that Pledge is said every day
I want to give credit for “The Pledge of Allegiance” in pre-school and in my day, kindergarten, to the teachers who are the ones that have taught this patriotic act in years past and present. The VFW has been involved since 1945. Our community is very patriotic and our schools[Read More…]
Letter: Theos remembers sheep trailing days
When I read the article on the front page of the Herald Times, written by my granddaughter, Morgan M. Neilson, we were still trailing our sheep and I started thinking about trailing sheep during my lifetime, which at present is 90 years. Years and years ago, what is now Highway[Read More…]
