Night at Hogwarts an educational, funding success

RANGELY I Parkview Elementary School’s third annual Night at Hogwarts saw its highest turnout to date as approximately 350 children and adults, including families from Meeker, Vernal and Grand Junction, attended the fundraiser Friday night.

Halloween a’coming…

A dressed-down skeleton lounges on a bench, ready to welcome visitors to a home on South White Avenue in Rangely. The decoration is one of many around town heralding the coming of Halloween.

Double delight…

It is said that high humidity and strong sunlight combine for a bright rainbow and that a rare double rainbow is caused by very high humidity and even stronger sunlight. Such was the case recently when this brightly colored double rainbow made an appearance in the sky over Rangely.

Dictionary giveaway…

Approximately 60 Rangely third-grade students received free Spanish-English dictionaries from Rangely resident René Harden recently. Harden was unable to attend the giveaway, so parent Heather Zadra, left, and writer Lou Dean, right, distributed the books. The students later expressed thanks for the donation.

Community Networking Group meets Tuesday

RANGELY I The next meeting of the Community Networking Group will be held on Tuesday on the Colorado Northwestern Community College campus in Rangely. The October guest speaker will be Colorado State Sen. Randy Baumgardner of Colorado’s District 8.

Hogwarts returns…

A Night At Hogwarts returns to Parkview Elementary School on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. The Harry Potter-themed fundraiser helps cover teachers’ extra supply costs and pays for the event’s continuation.
