New MHS girls’ basketball coach Greg Chintala works to prepare his team for their debut tonight in the WREA Cowboy Shootout. Rangely will play Palisade at 6 p.m., followed by Meeker against Crested Butte.
USA Junior Nationals …
Trey Morris, a senior at Meeker High School, was invited to play basketball at the International Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio in July. He was one of ten players invited from Colorado to attend the USA Junior Nationals week long tournament.

Tuesday, March 22, the Lady Cowboys celebrated a spectacular ending to a tumultuous season. The senior parents hosted a banquet for the team, coaches and their families.
Basketball banquet honors MHS seniors
The MHS boys’ basketball team officially concluded their 2010-2011 season with the annual parent-hosted banquet. Approximately 60 people attended the function that annually honors outgoing senior players.

Lady Cowboys lose two
MEEKER I The weekend wasn’t what the Meeker girls’ basketball team was hoping for. Last Friday, the girls traveled to Paonia to meet the defending state champions. In their previous game, Meeker surprised the Eagles with a hard-hitting full court press to lasso a six point win.
Meeker ladies place third in district tournament
MEEKER I After a breathtaking quarterfinal win against the Soroco Rams last Tuesday in Oak Creek, the Meeker lady hoopsters started the semifinal round of the district tournament in Hayden against the No. 1 seeded Paonia Eagles.

MEEKER I Usually when you beat a good team in any sport it gets tougher to beat them again the second time you play. The Meeker Cowboy boys’ basketball team found this to be true as they traveled to Paonia for a rematch with the Paonia Eagles.
