Because of windy weather, Meeker senior Dylan Mobley and his teammates practiced inside Monday in preparation for Saturday’s doubleheader in Paonia against the Eagles. Meeker lost a pair of games to the Bulldogs in Hotchkiss on Saturday.
Panthers developing track talent
RANGELY I The Rangely High School track team has 24 athletes out this season, including four dual sport athletes sharing time between soccer and baseball, and four with state track experience.
Meeker youth grapplers travel to Rangely to compete
MEEKER I The Meeker Community Wrestling Club has 67 kids out for youth wrestling this season, and 42 members wrestled in the first tournament of the season in Rangely on the first day of spring break.
Meeker Golf Course opens under new management
MEEKER I The Meeker Golf Course will be under new management this season as long-time golf pro Jim Cook retired at the end of last season. Chris Arnold’s official title is director of facilities and operations and he is excited about the opportunity.
RHS Panthers beat MHS Cowboys in doubleheader
RBC I “The games against Meeker were as I expected; they were both a battle,” Rangely head baseball coach Paul Fortunato said about the doubleheader Saturday at home against the Cowboys. “Both team played extremely hard and let it out on the field.”
BMS wrestlers finish 2nd in home tourney
MEEKER I For the first time in Barone Middle School history, the sixth-graders were allowed to wrestle on the team, and two finished as champions in the final school-sponsored tournament of the season Saturday in Meeker.
Basketball players jump right into track
MEEKER I One week earlier, teammates Aly Ridings and Sydney Hughes were helping their basketball team win a third-place trophy at state. This past Saturday, they were helping their team to a fifth-place finish in the Hotchkiss Invitational track meet.
Rangely youth wrestlers get started with 2014 season
RANGELY I Many youth wrestlers from Rangely have already wrestled in two tournaments, with 20 traveling to Vernal, Utah, two weeks ago for a pre-season tournament and several more competing in the Little Warrior tournament on Saturday in Grand Junction.

MHS girls’ basketball 2014
The Meeker High School girls’ basketball team ended its season on a winning note with a 62-56 victory against Peyton in the consolation championship of the 2014 2A Colorado State Basketball Championships held in Pueblo.
