MEEKER I The Meeker Cowboys mens’ basketball team started the 2011-12 campaign in grand fashion this past weekend, picking up two wins in the Aspen tournament.

MHS opens season in Hotchkiss
MEEKER I The Cowboy wrestling team returned from Hotchkiss last Saturday with two champions under the leadership of new head coach J.C. Watt. Meeker will wrestle in another tournament this weekend in Oak Creek.
LeBlanc wins title in Vegas, still undefeated
MEEKER I University of Wyoming Cowboy senior Joe LeBlanc remained undefeated (11-0) in his quest for a NCAA Division I national wrestling title.

MEEKER I After three nights of games, Meeker’s girls’ basketball team came out with a handy win against the 4A Palisade Bulldogs.

Each year a MVP and all-tournament team are selected and announced before the championship games on Saturday.
Panthers win consolation bracket
RANGELY I “It was our first game of the year and you could definitely tell,” Rangely girls’ basketball coach Jimmie Mergelman said of her team’s first round game in the White River Electric Cowboy Shootout.

The annual boys’ WREA Cowboy Shootout will begin tonight with Rangely playing Grand Valley at 6 p.m., followed by Meeker against Cedaredge in the first round of the three-day event.

RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers boys’ basketball team will wait until next week to open the season at the White River Electric Association Cowboy Shootout. The Panthers will open the season against Grand Valley next Thursday.
