RANGELY I “We banged it with them,” Paul Fortunato, the Panthers’ new football coach said proudly of his team’s first game last Friday, a 31-6 loss to the Altamont Longhorns in Utah.

MEEKER I The school bells haven’t started ringing at Meeker High School yet but referee whistles were heard in both gyms last Saturday as the lady Cowboys hosted scrimmages with Grand Valley and Moffat County.

24 couples compete in annual tourney
MEEKER I Couples from Englewood, Castle Rock, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Rifle, Moab, Utah and Rock Springs, Wyo., joined eight teams from Rio Blanco County to complete a field of 24 in the annual Meeker Golf Course couples tournament held last weekend.
