Barone Middle School finishes its 2008 season
MEEKER — The Barone Middle School boys’ basketball teams opened the season last Saturday at home against county rival Rangely. The seventh- and eighth-grade A teams split, with the BMS seventh-graders winning and Rangely’s eighth-grade team winning.

RHS Panthers finish 10th at state cross country
RBC — This was the first year the Colorado High School Activities Association created a fourth classification for the state cross country meet and runners from Rio Blanco County took advantage of the opportunity.

Winners crowned in Meeker Frostbite Golf Tournament
MEEKER — The end-of-season Frostbite Golf Tournament was held Oct. 19 at the Meeker Golf Course with 18 golfers participating in the two-person division and 16 participating in the couples division.
Hotchkiss Bulldogs bite Meeker
MEEKER — The Hotchkiss Bulldogs gave good indication that their No. 4 state ranking is deserved Friday night as they easily handled the visiting Meeker Cowboys 47-14 to end the regular season for both teams.
RHS Panthers wrap up ’08 season
RANGELY — The Panthers hosted the Paonia Eagles last Friday for the last game of the season. The Eagles took it to Rangely and finished with a 58-21 victory.
Barone captures league title in Craig
MEEKER — Barone Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball team finished its season on a great note by winning the seventh-grade tournament Saturday in Craig. They went into the tournament the No. 2 seed which put them against Rangely in match No. 1.
Meeker Mustangs sweep past New Castle
MEEKER — The younger Mustangs took the field at Coal Ridge High School and made their mark, and New Castle didn’t know what hit them.
Five county runners qualify for state meet
