It finally feels a little like winter. Surprisingly, the U.S. Drought Monitor does not have eastern Rio Blanco County in drought conditions, although the eastern portion is deemed “abnormally dry” or in “moderate drought” as of Jan. 9. I’m not a fan of snow, but I’m less a fan of fire, and the images we’re seeing from Southern California this week are disturbing, to say the least. Fingers crossed for decent moisture coming our way during the next few months.

Print subscriptions may be delayed this week due to the National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter.
