Road and Bridge faces long list of summer projects
RBC I The Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge Department oversees 913 miles of roads, the county landfill between Rangely and Meeker, and now the department director says this summer is going to be one of the busiest ever with additional road repair and maintenance projects above the normal routine.

MEEKER I The ground was broken two weeks ago on the lawn and sidewalk at the Rio Blanco County Courthouse, but the stone and concrete construction of the actual Rio Blanco County Veterans Memorial will begin this week in downtown Meeker.

RANGELY | The Rangely Museum is gathering recipes for a cookbook featuring old and new recipes of the Rangely area. In addition to regular recipes, there is a focus on homemade ice cream and dutch oven recipes for the Ice Cream Social section.

MEEKER | After 17 years in Meeker, Larry and Sandra Johnson are pretty fond of their home town, particularly the “great way that everybody treats each other,” Larry said. Larry and Sandra are Colorado natives. Both were born in Denver.

Meeker moves to turn school over to county
MEEKER I The Meeker Town Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to proceed with an ordinance that would allow the town to turn the old Meeker Elementary School on Main Street in the downtown area over to the Rio Blanco County Board of Commissioners.

Dear Editor: At the beginning of the school year, we had nine teams participate in Meeker’s Destination Imagination program. Five of these teams went on to compete at the state tournament in Denver, and of those five, three teams placed high enough to qualify for the global competition in Tennessee.
