Meeker Drill Team organizes April 2

MEEKER — The Meeker Drill Team will have its organizational meeting from 2-4 p.m. Thursday in the kitchen at the extension office at the fairgrounds. Riding practice begins April 9 from 7-9 p.m. For more information, call Rosemary at 878-4430 or Lori at 878-4682.

Newman will become head of Monte Vista school district

RANGELY — While Dwayne Newman may be moving to a different part of the state, he is familiar with the area. Newman, who resigned in January as superintendent of the Rangely School District for personal reasons, has accepted a superintendent’s job in Monte Vista, in south-central Colorado.

February incidents up 22 percent

RBC — The combined incidents for the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and the Meeker Police Department significantly increased during February 2009, with a 22 percent increase in activity compared to February 2008.
