RIO HAPPENINGS: OCT. 1-7, 2023

ARRESTS

A 47 year-old male was arrested for domestic violence on 10/2/2023 and transported to Moffat County Jail. He was released on a cash bond on 10/3/2023

A 56 year-old female was arrest for driving under the influence on 10/2/2023 by Rangely PD. She was transported to Moffat County Jail and was released on a PR Bond on 10/3/2023.

A 62 year-old female was arrested on a protection order violation on 10/6/2023 by Meeker PD and transported to Moffat County Jail.

A 28 year-old male was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on 10/6/2023 on a Mesa County warrant and transported to Moffat County Jail.

On 10/5/2023  Jury found a defendant guilty on Sex Asssault-No Consent and Sex Assault-10-Year Age Difference. He is currently in custody at Moffat County Jail.

CALL SUMMARIES

10/1/2023 @ 4:17 pm. After calling the Sheriff’s Office for a lockout assist, the driver located their keys at the local business they were parked at and no longer needed assistance. 

10/2/2023 @ 1:15 pm. A domestic violence incident occured on County Road 46. A male party was arrested and subsequently taken to Moffat County Jail. The female half of the domestic was arrested for DUI and transported to Moffat County Jail. 

10/3/2023 @ 12:46 am. A traffic complaint came into the Communications Center regarding a vehicle near the 31 mile-marker on Highway 13 swerving all over the road.  Meeker PD and a deputy with Rio Blanco County contacted the vehicle and confirmed the driver was driving while drowsy. The driver was advised to find a place to rest for a couple of hours. 

10/3/2023 @ 9:51 pm. Multiple phone calls from a resident living in an apartment complex in town limits of Meeker regarding an upstairs neighbor that was “stomping”on the floor and caused a light fixture to come loose. After several calls to the police, the officer deteremined there were no criminal actions.

10/4/2023 @ 12:44 am. Car vs elk accident occured at the 20 mile-marker on Highway 13. none of the 5 occupants of the vehicle were injured. 

10/5/2023 @ 4:32 pm. One vehicle rollover accident prompted the single occupant to be taken to the hospital. The accident occured at the 45 mile-marker on Highway 139. 

10/6/2023 @ 3:28 pm. A female party was arrested by Meeker PD for a protection order violation that occured on 10th St. 

10/6/2023 @ 5:33 pm. A passerby reported a vehicle parked on Highway 139 near the 48 mile-marker occupied by a male who appeared to be under the influence of some sort of substance. The male party was arrested by a Sheriff’s Deputy and transported to Moffat County Jail on a warrant. The investigation is ongoing regarding drug usage.

10/7/2023 @ 6:29 pm. 3 male parties were reportedly smoking marijuana in the bed of a truck at the overlook on County Road 8 while admiring the sunset. A deputy responded and reminded them that it is illegal to drive while under the influence of marijuana. They were waiting for a sober party to come pick them up.
