Small town makes a big impression at state tourney

The middle school state wrestling championships (in affiliation with the Rocky Mountain Nationals) was held last Friday and Saturday in Denver. The event featured athletes from all over the state and from schools of all sizes.

BMS wrestlers qualify 14 for state tourney

MEEKER I Twenty-two Barone Middle School wrestlers used their first day of spring break last Saturday to wrestle in the state qualifying regional tournament in Fruita. Fourteen of them placed in the top eight, qualifying them to wrestle in Denver this weekend.

BMS wrestlers crown 7 champs

MEEKER I The Barone Middle School wrestling team continued their successful season last week, winning dual meets against Hayden and the Panthers in Rangely Thursday last and finishing second as a team in Oak Creek last Saturday.

Wrestlers open in Craig

MEEKER I “It was a successful first outing,” Barone Middle School wrestling coach Lee Overton said of the five duals the young Cowboys wrestled in Craig last Saturday. “We’re growing in numbers and starting to have more success.”

Pontine finishes 4th at state

Meeker’s Devon Pontine concluded a good year with a fourth-place finish at the Colorado Middle School State Championships. Meeker was well-represented with 12 wrestlers competing in the event.  

Five compete in tourney

MEEKER I Five Meeker wrestlers traveled to St. George, Utah, to compete in the Jacobs Challenge National tournament and all five placed, including one champion.
