Meeker High students are studying in Baja
MEEKER I Eight Meeker High School students and one teacher, Bob Dorsett, are participating in a nine-day field science project studying marine life in Baja California Sur. The Island Ecology Program, organized by Ecology Project International (www.ecologyproject.org), is located at the Sea of Cortez’ Espiritu Santo Island.
WR Snowmobile Club will ride Sunday
MEEKER | White River Snowmobile Club will have its annual ride this Sunday. Riders will depart the Ripple Creek parking lot at the end of County Road 8 at 10 a.m. All ages and ability of riders are welcome. Club leaders will accompany all riders.
Splitting wood is out of Jesper Jonsson’s hands from now on
Jesper Jonsson makes his living with his hands. So when he almost lost a finger in a log-splitting accident in January, it threatened not only his career, but his livelihood. Jesper, a chef with an international reputation, owns and operates The Bistro restaurant in Meeker with his wife, San.

Every now and then a significant date comes to mind. Usually it has personal significance, as it marks a birthday or anniversary celebration for family and friends. Other times it is of a wider significance — a national holiday or a day that is etched in everyone’s mind.

I would like to say how much I enjoyed the games at the district basketball tournament. However, I was very disappointed in the sportsmanship of the Meeker boys’ team and coach when they wouldn’t stay in the gym to accept the second-place trophy.
