It’s time to make the ice cream

RANGELY I Do you make homemade ice cream and have a special recipe you would like to enter to win cash prizes?
The Rangely Outdoor Museum’s annual Ice Cream Social and Homemade Ice Cream contest will be held Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m. during Septemberfest weekend. Call the Rangely Outdoor Museum at 970-675-2612 with your name and flavor by Friday, Aug. 31 to enter.
Cash prizes include first place, $125; second place, $75; third place, $50. Or just come for the free ice cream and lemonade. Come taste the contestants’ special recipes of homemade ice cream. Judging is done the day before the social so don’t forget to call.
To enter the homemade ice cream contest you need at least one gallon of ice cream, enough for all to taste. No mixes, prepackaged, or artificial flavors; use fresh ingredients only. We ask that all our contestants be present the day of the social to serve their own ice cream. Winners will be announced at the social.
There will also be entertainment along with demonstrations on arrowhead knapping. Check out our unique museum and see what’s new in the gift shop. We have some great new gifts and books.
Museum hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays, noon to 4 p.m. We now have a black light rock display and plan to have the Burma Shave signs finished for the social. For information please call the Rangely Outdoor Museum at 970-675-2612.
