MEEKER | With the season winding down, the county’s junior high volleyball teams are finishing strong.
In a closely contested match last week, the combined Meeker eighth-grade A and B team beat previously unbeaten Rangely in three games.
“They came out fired up and ready to win,” said Meeker coach Jamie Rogers. “The girls showed more great passing.”
Meeker’s eighth-grade C team lost to Rangely.
“While they were not able to come away with a win, they played a great game,” Rogers said. “I was really proud of the way they finished up their season and the amount of growth they have made.”
In seventh-grade action, Meeker’s A team beat Rangely, while the B team lost.
“This girls have had a great season and have improved so much. I’m so proud of them all,” said Meeker seventh-grade coach Ivy Abshire.
The junior high volleyball season concludes Saturday with a tournament in Rangely.
“It has been a good season,” said Rangely eighth-grade coach Courtney Kent. “We’re looking forward to the tournament.”
