Eagle Scout, VFW conduct flag ceremony

MEEKER I Eagle Scout Collin Cochran will join VFW Commander Tom Kilduff and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in conducting an official and patriotic flag retirement ceremony on the courthouse lawn immediately following the conclusion of the parade.

Cub Scout Pack 91 meets Oct. 13

MEEKER I Cub Scout Pack 91 invites all boys ages 6 through 10 (or first through fifth grade) and their parents to a new member welcoming meeting on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Building at 779 Sulphur Creek Road.

The 22nd scout jamboree, Sweden

Meeker Eagle Scout Collin Cochran traveled to Rinkaby, Sweden, with 36 young men and women, who are Venturers, representing the 12-state western region of the Boy Scouts of America, to participate in the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, where 160 countries were represented. Cochran is pictured (back row, middle right) with fellow Venturing Crew 70310, who built an entrance by lashing wood together, creating the highest entrance allowing the American flag to fly the highest.

MEEKER I Editor’s note: Collin Cochran is an Eagle Scout in Venturing Crew 91 and a senior honor student at Meeker High School who recently returned from the World Scout Jamboree.

Boy Scout finds help at lodge

MEEKER I At approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, two Boy Scout leaders came to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office to report a missing scout last seen mid-afternoon on Friday, Aug. 5, in the Bailey Lake area near South Fork off RBC Road 10, 21 miles east of Meeker.

In the Law of the Pack, a Cub Scout gives good will, and in the Boy Scout Promise, a Boy Scout promises to help other people at all times. By participating in a Scouting for Food program, local scouts came a step closer to fulfilling those words.

Byers completes Eagle Scout project

RANGELY — An Eagle Scout project was carried out this past week by Hyrum Byers in which community members were instructed on how to maintain their own vehicles.

RANGELY — The annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby in Rangely was held once again at the LDS Church with boys from Pack 151, 189 and 191 competing for top prizes and a bit of pride.

MEEKER — Cub Scout Pack 190 held its annual Blue and Gold Banquet Wednesday, Feb. 11. The event was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints cultural hall.
