Lady Cowboys’ ride ends at regionals in Grd. Jct.

MEEKER I The Meeker girls’ basketball team earned a spot in the “sweet sixteen” with a big win over Dolores Friday, March 8, at Central High School in Grand Junction, but they couldn’t pull off a second win over Simla on Saturday to clench a spot in the “elite eight” of the state tournament.

Based on outstanding sportsmanship, leadership and character on and off the court, the Yampa Valley Basketball Officials Association, represented by Rick Murr, John Whinery and Ryan Duran, presented Meeker senior Kaysyn Chintala with the 2012-2013 sportsmanship award after the final regular season game.

MEEKER I A win over Hotchkiss and a loss to Paonia over the weekend lands the lady Cowboys the No. 2 spot in the league as they head into the final weekend of regular season play.
