Dear Editor: Meeker, let’s not sleep on this one! It was exciting to know that so many people in Meeker attended a meeting in support of the proposed cell tower. It’s easy to show up to complain; sometimes we forget that it’s important to give a pat on the back.

Lincoln reenactment production March 14
MEEKER | MACC and the Rio Blanco County Historical Society have joined to cooperatively present John Voehl, a renowned Abraham Lincoln re-enactor in an evening production on Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at the Meeker High School auditorium.
9th annual Buy-Fly Fishing Tournament
MEEKER | The White River Community Association is hosting the ninth annual Buy-Fly Whitefish Tournament on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10 and is seeking teams of interested fisher-folks to join in the fun.

RANGELY | Dan and Ronda Gordon of Rangely are this week’s “home of” honorees. They have been Rangely residents since 1999. The Gordons will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary May 8.
MHS senior basketball…
Meeker High School seniors playing on the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams ended the regular season with wins against Rio Blanco County rival Rangely last Friday and both teams won pigtail games Tuesday to advance to the district tournament starting this Friday in Paonia.

The recognition of outstanding faculty was held on Feb. 13, 2013, as part of the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education meeting at the Community College of Aurora.

BMS students engage in history
MEEKER I Students at Barone Middle School took part in the National History Day contest. The annual event features a new theme every year and invites students from across the country to compete. This year’s theme was “turning points in history.”
“Fables” dinner delights
MEEKER I The Meeker Arts and Cultural Council (MACC) in cooperation with the ERBM Recreation and Parks District presented a dinner theatre production, “A Bagful of Fables” by Robert R. Lehan, based on five of “Aesop’s Fables” on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Fairfield Center.
