MEEKER — The Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Lighting Contest, judged Dec. 18, had 17 entries. Three businesses entered the contest this year and all three deserve applause for their hard work.

RANGELY — Christian Holcomb of Rangely was nominated for appointment to the Merchant Marine Academy by Congressman John Salazar, who represents the Third District.

RANGELY — Michael Morton, son of David and Carol Morton of Rangely and a homeschooled senior, demonstrated he is well prepared for college by earning the top composite score of 36 on the ACT college admissions and placement exam.
Rushers named ‘home of’ honoree
RANGELY — Wade and Lynn Rusher of Rangely are this week’s “home of” honorees. Wade moved to Rangely in 1997. Shortly after arriving, Wade and Lynn were married. They celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary this year.
Road closed in Dinosaur National Monument Jan. 1
DINOSAUR — Superintendent Mary Risser announced that Dinosaur National Monument’s Harpers Corner Road, which begins two miles east of Dinosaur on US 40 and runs 31 miles north into the monument, will close to the public on Jan. 1.
