Centenarian honored…

The quarterly meeting of the Rio Blanco Historical Society began by singing “Happy Birthday” to Evelyn Metzger on Sunday. Metzger recently turned 100 years of age, and she shared some timeless and priceless stories in line with the day’s pioneer woman theme.

Program highlighted area pioneers

MEEKER I The Rio Blanco Historical Society’s “Pioneer Women of Rio Blanco County” program drew more than 70 persons Sunday to enjoy the telling of tales dating back at least decades in county history.

MACC plans performing arts youth seminar

MEEKER I The Meeker Arts and Cultural Council (MACC) and the ERBM Recreation and Parks District, in cooperation with Meeker High School, will offer free enrichment seminars by the Colorado Mesa University theater arts department faculty.

Arlene Fritzlan cut from tough stock

MEEKER I “I learned something I never forgot on that trip. If you hire on a job, finish it,” said Meeker native Arlene Fritzlan about a two-week pack trip all over the upper White River area when she was very young and working for her Uncle Joe.
