MEEKER I The Lady Cowboys finished fourth in the District 5 basketball tournament last weekend in Rangely and will now compete in the state-qualifying Region 7 tournament this weekend at Standley Lake High School in Denver.

Hayden upsets Meeker boys in district final
MEEKER I The Hayden Tigers took advantage of timely shooting and converted 14 of 21 free throws in the final period to knock the Meeker Cowboys from the ranks of the undefeated with a 65-58 upset victory in the championship game of the District 5 tournament Saturday in Rangely.

Interim CEO takes over at PMC for now
MEEKER I Bob Omer’s last day on the job was Friday. The outgoing CEO of Pioneers Medical Center announced his resignation in January to “pursue other opportunities in health care management.” Meanwhile, a new chief executive officer, Ken Huey, is on board at the hospital, at least temporarily.

MEEKER | A free children’s health fair and preschool registration will be held for children ages birth to 5. Children will be screened for vision, hearing, speech/language, height, weight, oral hygiene, motor skills, cognitive abilities, self-help skills and social/emotional skills.
Political meet and greet set for March 7
MEEKER I Dee Weiss will host a meet and greet with state and local political candidates Sunday, March 7 at the Fawn Gallery in downtown Meeker. “Some of the state candidates will be here,” Weiss said. “And we’ve invited our local people who are running.”
