MEEKER I After two outstanding victories during the weekend, the Meeker girls’ basketball team roped the championship title at the District Five tournament in Paonia. It has been 17 years since a Meeker girls’ basketball team has won the district championship.

Meeker High School seniors playing on the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams ended the regular season with wins against Rio Blanco County rival Rangely last Friday and both teams won pigtail games Tuesday to advance to the district tournament starting this Friday in Paonia.
