Cowboys finish third in Paonia, crown 2 champs

MEEKER I The Meeker High School wrestling team finished third in the Screamin’ Eagle tournament Saturday in Paonia, then pinned the Bulldogs seven times to win a dual in Craig on Tuesday. Tonight the Cowboys will wrestle a triangular in Palisade against the host Bulldogs and the Bulldogs from Hotchkiss.

MHS boys earn three wins

MEEKER I The Meeker High School boys’ basketball team finished the week with three big wins. The Cowboys began their streak Tuesday night against Rangely, beating the Panthers 65-52 behind a balanced scoring attack led by senior Jeremy Musgrave with 20 points.

Middle school girls split games

The Rangely and Meeker middle schools girls’ basketball teams split games last week in Meeker with the eighth-grade games being won by Rangely and the seventh-grade games by Meeker. Lady Cowboys continue winning streak

RBC I The Meeker girls’ basketball continued their unbeaten 2014 streak with three more wins last week. The lady Cowboys not only won but they scored more than 60 points in each game and outscored their opponents by more than 20 points in the three games.

RHS Panthers lose three in a row

RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers boys’ basketball team lost 50-47 to the Paonia Eagles at home last Friday, then lost 57-43 to the Bulldogs in Hotchkiss on Saturday. MEEKER I The challenge of a high school basketball game is the ability to put together 32 minutes of good basketball. The Meeker boys’ basketball team is doing just that this season as they have proved time and time again they can play with good teams.
