Panthers secure playoff berth with 41-26 grid win
RANGELY I The Rangely Panther football team secured it second state playoff berth in the second year of playing eight-man football with a 41-26 victory in Oak Creek against the Soroco Rams on Friday.
Meeker to finish regular v-ball season on the road
MEEKER I The Meeker High School volleyball team showed great teamwork and perseverance coming back from an emotional loss to Paonia for homecoming on Friday night to beat a scrappy South Routt County (Soroco) team on Saturday.

Six kids from Meeker participated in the Regional Punt, Pass and Kick competition in Grand Junction on Sunday including Tanner Ridgeway, Hayden Shults, Bella Gianinetti, Connor Blunt, Marin Shults and Ellie Haussig.
New tradition…
In a new ceremony during halftime of Friday night’s homecoming football came against Cedaredge, the new “Flaming M” was set afire after being wrapped with donated sheets from Tuesday’s Toga Day activities at Meeker High School.
RHS volleyball hosts Meeker for parent night
RANGELY I The Rangely volleyball team will host Meeker on Friday night in a league rematch and then travel to Paonia to take on the current league leaders.

Results were not available for the Aspen cross country meet on Saturday but several runners from Meeker and Rangely competed, including Rio Blanco County’s best: seniors Caleb Lange of Meeker and Tanner Nielsen of Rangely.
Lady Cowboys remain undefeated in league matches
MEEKER I The 2013 volleyball season is in full swing and every match counts. Coach Christy Atwood said, “Getting wins and capitalizing on the game plans we have been working on are going to be critical.”
Barone Middle School volleyball teams…
More than 30 Barone Middle School girls are in the volleyball program, and they will take their show on the road to Rangely on Saturday for the annual season-ending league tournament.
MHS Cowboys suffer first loss of the season
MEEKER I The Meeker Cowboy football team suffered its first loss (22-28) of the season in Paonia last Friday but according to their coach, they have to “put Paonia behind them” because the Cowboys are celebrating homecoming this week and hosting the defending state champion Cedaredge Bruins in Starbuck Stadium.
Panthers turn ball, game over to Vail Christian Saints
RANGELY I Vail Christian was supposed to travel to Rangely for a football game on Yeager Field last Friday but because of a power outage caused by the snowstorm, the game was postponed until Monday, when the Saints did come to town and marched out with a 26-8 win.
Baby, it’s cold outside…
The snowstorm started before the Thursday football game between the Rangely Middle School Panthers and the Barone Middle School Cowboys in Starbuck Stadium but it didn’t prevent them from playing the game under the lights. Meeker won 22-6.
