MEEKER I Meeker took on Steamboat Springs JV in a non-league game last Wednesday, Jan. 25, then headed to Walden on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a conference match against the North Park Wildcats. Both games were easy wins for the lady Cowboys.

RANGELY I The Panthers boys’ basketball team delighted its fans Friday last, defeating the Paonia Eagles 68-59. In Hayden Saturday, the Panthers lost 60-74. The Panthers will host Vail Mountain Friday and North Park Saturday.

RANGELY I Three Panther wrestlers won the Grand Junction wrestling tournament last Saturday. One finished as a consolation champ and another won a match.

MEEKER I The Cowboy wrestling team competed in the Grand Junction Tiger JV tournament with Meeker and Rangely as the only small schools in the field of Grand Valley JV teams, including the two Grand Junction teams, Palisade, Fruita, Delta, Olathe and Montrose.

MEEKER I The lady Cowboys faced off against the Rangely Panthers Saturday, Jan. 21 for an important victory against their county rivals which has kept them on the “teams to watch” list for Colorado Preps Network.

RANGELY I It was a good defensive game but Panther coach Eric Hejl attributed poor shooting in his team’s loss to the West Grand Mustangs and a “meltdown” in the third quarter for the loss against the Meeker Cowboys last Saturday in Rangely.

RANGELY I The defending small school state basketball champs, the Little Snake River Rattlers from Baggs, Wyo., and the Soroco Rams from Oak Creek traveled to Rangely last week for games. The Panthers lost to the Rattlers but beat the Rams.
