Brown strikes gold in California
MEEKER | Jordan Brown, who will be a junior this year at Meeker High School, qualified for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference at the Colorado state leadership conference this past April, with teammates Elissa McLaughlin and Sage Chapin.
Bike and Build rides and rests
MEEKER I The riders started arriving in Meeker early afternoon last Friday and by 6 p.m., all 32 Bike and Build riders were in Elbert Hall, ready for a dinner prepared for them by the local Methodist and Catholic churches.
Watch for elk on Highway 13
RBC I Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers are warning motorists on State Highway 13 south of Meeker to be especially watchful for large numbers of elk congregating on a five- or six-mile stretch of road around mile marker 26.

Ira (Pat) (Buddy) Clifton Johnson, 89, of Piceance Creek in Rio Blanco County, Colo., passed away June 28, 2011, at Pioneers Hospital in Meeker, Colo.

After an effort by community members to save the 115-year-old Methodist church was denied by the Meeker town council, Travis Adams of TDA Construction used a track hoe to tear down the old church so a parking lot could be built to serve the new church.
