The Meeker Herald — 75 years ago March 7, 1935 • Everett Rector, Rangely pioneer, was severely burned when carbide gas from his lighting system exploded. It seems that after retiring for night, Mr. Rector thought he smelled a gas odor. When he struck a match there was an explosion.

Bill Turner, who won Rangely’s first individual state wrestling title, congratulates the newest Panther state champion Travis Witherell. Turner won the 165-pound class in 1958 and Witherell won the 152-pound state title Feb. 20.
