Young Panthers 4th at Hayden

RANGELY I Coaches are always looking for improvement, and Derek Stolworthy liked what he saw. “We did extremely well. We had 10 placers and even though we were among the smallest schools there, we took fourth out of nine teams,” said the Rangely Junior High wrestling coach.

Bill Turner, who won Rangely’s first individual state wrestling title, congratulates the newest Panther state champion Travis Witherell. Turner won the 165-pound class in 1958 and Witherell won the 152-pound state title Feb. 20.

Panthers stay at home for districts

RANGELY I With third place in the league locked up, all that was left for the Lady Panthers — as far as the regular season — was a rematch with Plateau Valley. And again Rangely won in a blowout 52-28.

Panthers use down time to get ready

RANGELY I Even though it has been more than two weeks since their last meet, the Panther wrestlers haven’t exactly been taking a break. “We’re doin’ two-a-days this week, so we’re getting ready,” Rangely coach Jeff LeBleu said.
