MEEKER I Meeker’s Barone Middle School finished third at the annual Northwest Invitational Wresting tournament in Hayden March 5.

MEEKER I The Barone Middle School wrestling team won the annual Craig Invitational dual tournament, after winning all five of their duals. Meeker started the day by defeating Rifle 43-33 in a closely contested dual. Key wins were picked up by Austin Purcell and team captain Jake Phelan.
Pelloni takes fifth at state tourney
MEEKER I Barone Middle School seventh-grader Tristin Pelloni finished fifth at the Colorado State Middle School wrestling tournament last weekend in Denver. A total of nine BMS wrestlers qualified for the state tournament but only six made the trip and Pelloni was the only placer for the Cowboys.

MEEKER I Nineteen Barone Middle School wrestlers competed in the third annual middle school regional tournament in Fruita last Saturday and nine qualified for the state tournament in Denver this weekend.

MEEKER I Barone Middle School wrestlers performed in front of a hometown crowd last Saturday, winning three dual meets and advancing 11 wrestlers into the championship round. The Cowboys defeated Hayden, Rangely and Craig in dual meets, then crowned seven individual champions.

MEEKER I After a dual meet victory last Thursday, the Barone Middle School wrestlers finished second in a tournament last Saturday at Soroco. “We beat Rangely 43-23 but we didn’t wrestle well,” BMS head coach Lee Overton said of the March 11 dual with the Panthers.
