Five place in Steamboat
RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers wrestled in the Steamboat Springs Round Robin tournament Saturday and returned with five placers, including one champion.
Cowboys finish third in Paonia, crown 2 champs
MEEKER I The Meeker High School wrestling team finished third in the Screamin’ Eagle tournament Saturday in Paonia, then pinned the Bulldogs seven times to win a dual in Craig on Tuesday. Tonight the Cowboys will wrestle a triangular in Palisade against the host Bulldogs and the Bulldogs from Hotchkiss.
MHS boys earn three wins
MEEKER I The Meeker High School boys’ basketball team finished the week with three big wins. The Cowboys began their streak Tuesday night against Rangely, beating the Panthers 65-52 behind a balanced scoring attack led by senior Jeremy Musgrave with 20 points.
Panthers find success at home tournament
RANGELY I More than 150 wrestlers from 13 schools competed in the inaugural Vern Rose Memorial wrestling tournament in Rangely on Saturday, and all six varsity Panthers advanced to the championship round. “The tournament was a success,” Rangely head coach Jeff Heinle said.

RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers boys’ basketball team defeated the West Grand Mustangs from Kremmling 53-49 at home Friday, and, this Friday, the Panthers will host Plateau Valley then travel to Debeque on Saturday.

RBC I The Meeker girls’ basketball continued their unbeaten 2014 streak with three more wins last week. The lady Cowboys not only won but they scored more than 60 points in each game and outscored their opponents by more than 20 points in the three games.
