BMS boys host RMS in opener

MEEKER — The Barone Middle School boys’ basketball teams opened the season last Saturday at home against county rival Rangely. The seventh- and eighth-grade A teams split, with the BMS seventh-graders winning and Rangely’s eighth-grade team winning.

Hotchkiss Bulldogs bite Meeker

MEEKER — The Hotchkiss Bulldogs gave good indication that their No. 4 state ranking is deserved Friday night as they easily handled the visiting Meeker Cowboys 47-14 to end the regular season for both teams.

MEEKER — Barone Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball team finished its season on a great note by winning the seventh-grade tournament Saturday in Craig. They went into the tournament the No. 2 seed which put them against Rangely in match No. 1.

Meeker runners head to regionals

MEEKER — Three Meeker High School cross country runners will compete in the state-qualifying regional meet this coming Saturday in Delta. The trio of runners, led by seniors Terrance Casias and Keenan Walter, along with freshman Tracey Roybal, ran in Rifle last Thursday.

RBC — The Rio Blanco county championship is annually one of the best games of the year for both Meeker and Rangely. This year the Meeker Cowboys scored seven touchdowns and two two-point conversions while holding the host Panthers to just seven points to win the game 46-7.
