RANGELY I The Rangely boys’ basketball team went on the road last weekend and lost two games, one in Wyoming and another in Colorado.

Rangely teams busy in Utah, home

RANGELY I Rangely High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were busy this weekend. The varsity teams traveled to Duchesne, Utah, for games Thursday night, and the JV and freshman teams played at home in a tournament Friday and Saturday.

Panthers win consolation bracket

RANGELY I “It was our first game of the year and you could definitely tell,” Rangely girls’ basketball coach Jimmie Mergelman said of her team’s first round game in the White River Electric Cowboy Shootout.

Panthers open season next week at shootout

The Panthers will be led by seniors Mason Fortunato, Kody Denny, David Contreras and Ethan Peacock this season. The Panthers will open the season next week in the WREA Cowboy Shootout in Meeker.

RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers boys’ basketball team will wait until next week to open the season at the White River Electric Association Cowboy Shootout. The Panthers will open the season against Grand Valley next Thursday.

Lady Panthers open season tonight

Haeley Enterline will lead her team as the lone senior when they open the season tonight in Meeker against Palisade at 6 p.m.

RANGELY I “I’m the only one in my class that has played basketball,” Haeley Enterline said and she is Rangely’s only senior on the girls’ basketball team.

Panthers host tournament

The Meeker girls’ team won all six of their games.

Denver Lutheran ends Panthers’ season at regional tournament

The Rangely boys’ basketball team put their hands together in solidarity before what became their final game of the season. Coach Hejl said his team worked all season on becoming a team and “made huge strides in achieving that goal.”

RANGELY I “Sometimes you run into a freight train,” Rangely boys’ basketball coach Eric Hejl said. The freight train Hejl was referring to was the Denver Lutheran boys’ basketball team that ended Rangely’s season last Friday with a 90-35 win in the Region 4 basketball tournament.

RHS plays Denver Lutheran in regional tournament

RANGELY I The Panthers boys’ basketball team will play No. 1 seeded Denver Lutheran in the Region 4 tournament semifinal round this weekend at the University of Denver, after losses to Paonia and Meeker in the District 5 tournament last weekend.

RANGELY I A league game against the North Park Lady Wildcats was cancelled last week because of the weather, will be made up tonight in Rangely. The Lady Panthers will also play the Plateau Valley Lady Cowboys in Collbran this Saturday.
